Welcome to the Extract_OWDA_Region program. It allows you to extract any rectangular sub-domain of the OWDA for regional analysis. The default input files are as follows: (1) OWDA_scPDSI_PM_2012_XY.txt (2) OWDA_AR_JJA_PM_scPDSI_Ensemble.txt File (1) contains the XY coordinates File (2) contains the OWDA scPDSI recons. If you do not have them, ask Ed for them. Okay, read in the XY coordinates now. Input XY coordinate file name ==> West_Africa_scPDSI_XY.txt Grid points read in is: 941 Okay, read in the drought reconstructions now. Input drought file name ==> WADA5-10K_Opt_VRSQ_Recon_1500.txt OWDA scPDSI recons read in: 1500 2018 519 Okay, extract the OWDA sub-region now Enter high lat to keep ==> 20. Enter low lat to keep ==> 10. Enter east lon to keep ==> 10. Enter west lon to keep ==> -20. Echo: 20.00 10.00 10.00 -20.00 Sub-region coordinates okay? /n ==> y Grid points to extract: 619 Enter geographic name for your extracted region, like Syria, Spain, Central_Europe (only a maximum of 20 characters is used) ==> Sahel_Region Extract frozen grid points only? /n ==> n Normalize mean extracted series? y/ ==> n Regional grid point coordinates saved in file: Sahel_Region_XY.txt Regional grid point reconstructions saved in file: Sahel_Region_ALL.txt Regional grid point average data saved in file: Sahel_Region_AVG.txt For plotting the regional scPDSI, what spline smoothing in years do you want? ==> 20 |************* plot options menu ***************| |-----------------------------------------------| | [s]ave <[c]ontinue> [r]eplot | |_______________________________________________| enter option number > Want a different spline smoothing? y/ ==> n |************* plot options menu ***************| |-----------------------------------------------| | [s]ave <[c]ontinue> [r]eplot | |_______________________________________________| enter option number > Extract another region now? y/ ==> y Okay, extract the OWDA sub-region now Enter high lat to keep ==> 10.
